In this assignment, your job is to demonstrate your understanding of empirical methods we will examine this term.

Your task

A key aspect of doing research is knowing what methods are available to you and then figuring out what methods will best provide data to answer your question. Since our focus this term is empirical methods we will be engaging with a series of common methods that you practice doing.

These are exercises. They are not meant to be super formal or super involved. They are meant to give you some insights into what the method is, what it does, and how to do it.  Here are the methods that you’re gonna try out:

• observation with field notes
• interview, focus group, or oral history
• survey
• case study
• user test or experimental
