Definitions

Data: sample of raw information that can be interpreted

Data visualization: representation of data that shows patterns and trends. Typically in the form of charts, graphs, etc.

Document design: overall layout that includes aesthetic qualities such as white space, heading, fonts, and that provides a context for the data and  defined space for delivery

Information design: the way the elements (visualizations and doc design) work together to be effectively understood by an intended audience and purpose
