Because each of you has different goals and aims, I have opted to use these as the assignment titles. Each of the individual assignment sheets provide a more thorough overview of what we&#8217;ll be doing.<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Explain the major \u2018movements\u201d within the field of composition studies<\/li>\n<li>Illustrate an interpretation of a key concept, term, theory, or theorist<\/li>\n<li>Construct a counter history<\/li>\n<li>Design and create a project based on your interpretation of \u201ccomposition theory\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"printfriendly pf-alignleft\">You will note that there is not a specific part of the grade for participation. This is because there is an <a href=\"https:\/\/writeprofessionally.org\/comp-theory\/2020\/09\/30\/expectations\/\">expectation<\/a> that you will participate because that is what we do in graduate school. The daily <a href=\"https:\/\/writeprofessionally.org\/comp-theory\/schedule\/\">schedule<\/a> provides information on the things you need to do to be prepared for class that lead up to being able to complete the assignments.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2><strong>Grading<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While it takes a little getting used to, I do not grade in the traditional sense. Instead, the focus of our exercises and assignments are building a knowledge and competency in concepts and skills. This sort of learning is iterative and does not necessarily occur just because I mark up an assignment and give you a grade. The learning happens by my reading and analyzing what you\u2019re doing and then adjusting the course to help you meet the course goals and outcomes. In other words, many of the exercises and class discussions build on previous ideas and concepts to try and ensure that you\u2019re picking up the big ideas for the course.<\/p>\n<p>If at some point you have a concern about where \u201cyou\u2019re at\u201d in the course, just ask.<\/p>\n<p>You can read more about this in a <a href=\"http:\/\/tek-ritr.com\/its-true-i-dont-grade\/\">blog post I wrote<\/a>.
